Akron’s Own Jonathan McCray Soars to New Heights with Carolina Ballet!

Akron, OH – The spotlight shines brightly on Akron native Jonathan McCray as he takes a significant leap in his dance career, joining the prestigious Carolina Ballet this summer. McCray’s journey, marked by dedication and excellence, began in 2016 under the guidance of Mia Klinger at Nan Klinger Excellence in Dance. By 2017 he was already making waves as a company member at Ballet Excel Ohio.

In a remarkable turn of events in 2021, Jonathan was awarded a full scholarship to the esteemed School of American Ballet (SAB)in New York City for the summer program. His exceptional talent and commitment earned him an offer to join SAB’s year-round program, also on full scholarship. Fast forward to June 2024, Jonathan graduated from SAB, ready to embrace his new role as a full company member with Carolina Ballet.
